NOA provides opportunities for students to become more effective leaders through our internship program. Training, academic collaboration & a dynamic environment challenge and inspire participants. Placement is based on needs & educational major.
Inters work in partnership with staff:
At The Shelter: Interns are trained to answer the crisis line and offer shelter back up & support. Mentoring opportunities with NOA clients and their children are also available. (Direct service internships are extremely limited due to the lack of space at the emergency shelter. We can only accommodate one or two interns at time. For more information or to check availability please contact Andrea Shoemaker at 706-344-3853 or firstname.lastname@example.org)
In the Legal or Non Residential Department : Legal advocates not only assist victims of domestic violence with obtaining temporary protective orders, but they also work with clients to develop a personalized case plan which includes setting them up for trauma counseling, developing a safety plan, and assisting them with information and referrals to other community agencies.
In Fund-Raising Activities and Special Events: Interns are needed to assist with special events and activities such as our annual spring Gala, be the change campaign and dining for a difference.
As Office Support: Officer interns are needed to assist with general office duties as well as designing E-news blasts and assisting with quarterly mailings/newsletters.
At Southern Finds, NOA’s Thrift Store: Excellent business, customer service and merchandising skills are gained while interning at Southern Finds. Interns are responsible for arranging store merchandise, designing window displays, offering customer support and pricing and sorting donations. The store is always in need of help!
